LAS VEGAS (AP) — Jovan Mooring scored 17 points and had seven assists as UNLV fended off Wyoming to earn an 81-75 win on Saturday.

Christian Jones added 15 points and 10 rebounds while Tyrell Green and Jalen Poyser each had 14 points for the Rebels (8-7, 1-1 Mountain West).

UNLV was outshot by Wyoming, 45 percent to 39.1 percent, but held a 24-16 advantage at the free-throw line, hit two more 3-pointers, and won the turnover battle.

Justin James finished with 17 points and Hayden Dalton added 16 to lead the Cowboys (11-4, 1-1).

The Rebels never trailed in the second half but likewise never led by more than seven over the final 10 minutes. James hit a free throw, then put back a layup following his miss on the second attempt to cut it to 73-71 with 33 seconds left. But four free throws by Mooring and Uche Ofoegbu in the final 15 seconds iced it.
