YYSILANTI, Mich. (AP) — Ray Lee scored 20 points and Eastern Michigan closed the first half with a big run to pull away for a 98-72 win over Long Beach State on Wednesday.

A layup by Barry Ogalue gave the 49ers a 19-17 lead midway through the first half. Three free throws before a 3-pointer from Willie Mangum IV put the Eagles up for good 23-19. Long Beach was within 31-27 before Magnum ignited an 18-2 surge in the final 3:32 of the half for a 49-29 lead.

Jordan Nobles and Mangum finished with 15 points apiece for the Eagles (8-5), who finished 33 of 39 from the foul line and shot 54 percent from the field. Lee was 9 of 11 from the line.

Loren Jackson, Evan Payne and Gabe Levin had 14 apiece for the 49ers (5-11), who had won three straight.

Long Beach won the only other meeting between the schools in January 1971.
