Prairie View snaps 8-game losing skid, tops Huston-Tillotson

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (AP) — Zachary Hamilton scored 18 points, Troy Thompson added 16, and Prairie View A&M beat NAIA-member Huston-Tillotson 87-57 on Wednesday to snap an eight-game losing streak.

Hamilton, who had scored 20-plus in back-to-back games, was 6 of 12 from the field with three 3-pointers. Thompson only missed one of his six field-goal attempts and he hit five straight free throws.

Prairie View (3-11) returned home after a monthlong, seven-game road trip. The Panthers also got 10 points apiece from Avery Lomax and Shay'rone Jett.

The Panthers held a 39-27 lead at the break and opened the second half on a 22-2 run over five minutes for a 32-point lead. Hamilton made three 3-pointers during the stretch and PVAMU's lead never dipped below 21 after that.

Malcolm Ballard scored 14 points for Huston-Tillotson and Ray Edwards added 10. The Rams were held to 16-of-43 shooting (37.2 percent).
