DENVER (AP) — After a dry autumn, snowfall is rebounding to normal levels at Western ski areas and in the mountains that feed the Colorado River. Snowpack totals were encouraging across most of the region Wednesday, especially in Oregon, eastern Nevada and Utah, where it stood as high as 176 percent of normal. But precipitation remains scarce in isolated areas, including some New Mexico mountains.

JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) — A winter storm and increased avalanche danger are hampering the search for a Grand Targhee Resort worker who failed to return from snowboarding last Friday. Lee Kidd's sister tells the Jackson Hole News & Guide that her brother had recently moved to Driggs, Idaho from Bozeman, Montana, and was spending his first season working at Grand Targhee. A friend said Kidd had texted him and said he was getting more comfortable snowboarding in the backcountry.

BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) — Authorities say four people, including three children, were hospitalized after a gas explosion at a home in West Yellowstone. Shane Grube, chief of the Hebgen Basin Rural Fire District, tells The Bozeman Daily Chronicle that firefighters were called to the mobile home Tuesday morning. He says the explosion caused a fireball that blew itself out. Two people suffered severe injuries and two were moderately injured. No other details were released.

LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — Sheriff's deputies in Albany County have been trained to use a nasal spray that can reverse the effects of opioid overdoses. They hope having access to naloxone will prevent drug-related deaths in the Laramie rea.
