CHICAGO (AP) — The Redskins are without star tight end Jordan Reed for their key matchup with Chicago due to a sprained left shoulder. Reed is one of the top pass-catching tight ends in the league with 61 receptions for 646 yards and five touchdowns.

SEATTLE (AP) — NFC West champ Seattle will be looking to wrap up the only undefeated home record in the NFL this season when they host Arizona. When the two teams met earlier this season in Arizona, they settled for a 6-6 tie.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan has broken his own franchise record for touchdown passes in the season with his 33rd on the Falcons opening drive at Carolina. Ryan connected on a 26-yard strike to tight end Josh Perkins to give the Falcons an early 7-0 lead. Ryan previously set the Falcons' record in 2012.

DETROIT (AP) — Free agent Alex Avila has come to terms on a one-year, $2 million to rejoin the Tigers. He spent his first seven years with the team hitting .242 with 66 homers and 282 RBIs. Last season with the White Sox, Avila hit.213 with seven homers and 11 RBIs.

MIAMI (AP) — Brad Ziegler is now with the Miami Marlins after passing a physical to finalize his two-year, $16 million deal. The nine-year veteran with a career ERA of 2.44 and 85 saves will serve as the Marlins set-up man to closer A.J. Ramos.
