ATLANTA (AP) — Outfielder Ender Inciarte (EHN'-dur ihn-see-AHR'-tay) has agreed to a five-year, $30.5 million contract with the Braves. The deal avoids arbitration. Inciarte hit .226 before the All-Star break and .341 in the second half. He finished with 16 steals, 24 doubles, three homers and 29 RBIs.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Cavaliers starting guard J.R. Smith will miss at least three months following surgery for a complex fracture of his right thumb. The loss of Cleveland's best outside shooter and top perimeter defender will force coach Tyronn Lue (LOO) to make adjustments with his rotations.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — The Broncos will be without tight ends A.J. Derby and Virgil Green and leading tackler T.J. Ward for their crucial game against Kansas City on Christmas night. All are sidelined with concussions. The 8-6 Broncos could see their playoff hopes evaporate with another loss to the 10-4 Chiefs.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — The NHL says the Red Wings-Hurricanes game that was postponed Monday due to unplayable ice has been rescheduled for March 27. That means the teams will be playing on consecutive nights in Raleigh. They were already scheduled to play each other the following night.

PRAGUE (AP) — Petra Kvitova (kuh-VIHT'-oh-vuh) says she's determined to play tennis again following surgery for left hand injuries suffered in a knife attack at her home. The two-time Wimbledon champ was released from the hospital today and has a good prognosis for recovery without complications.
