Johnson, Mosby have double-doubles, Alcorn State beats Rust

LORMAN, Miss. (AP) — A.J. Mosby and Reginal Johnson each had double-doubles, Avery Patterson hit three 3-pointers and finished with 12 points and a career-best six assists and Alcorn State beat NAIA Rust College 83-68 on Thursday.

Mosby hit 5 of 7 from 3-point range and had 19 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists, while Johnson scored 19 with a career-high 12 boards. Mosby's rebound and assist totals were career bests. Yalen Reed and Rahamanh Katumbusi had 11 points apiece and Marquis Vance grabbed 14 rebounds.

Katumbusi, Mosby and Patterson all hit 3s during an 11-0 run that gave Alcorn State (3-8) the lead, 14-8, for good. Dewaun Fowler had a dunk and a 3 to pull Rust within one with six minutes left in the half, but Katumbusi's 3-point play capped an 18-5 run and gave the Braves a 43-29 lead. Rust trailed by double figures the rest of the way.

Dominique Brown scored 12, including five 3s, for the Bearcats.
