PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Giants can clinch a spot in the NFL playoffs with a win at Philadelphia tonight. The Giants have won eight of their last nine including a victory over the Eagles last month to put them on the verge of earning their first playoff berth since 2011.

NEW YORK (AP) — NBA-leading Golden State takes a five-game winning streak into its game at Brooklyn tonight in the start of a three-game holiday road swing. The Warriors have won their last two games by a combined 75 points, including a 30-point blowout of Northwest Division leading Utah Tuesday night.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — San Antonio takes an NBA best 15-1 road mark and five-game winning streak into its game with the Clippers in Los Angeles tonight. The Southwest Division-leading Spurs will be facing a Los Angeles team that is playing their second game without star forward Blake Griffin after knee surgery.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Surprising Columbus takes a franchise best 10-game winning streak into a showdown with Metropolitan Division co-leading Pittsburgh tonight in NHL play. The Blue Jackets have earned points in 12 straight games and start the night just a point out of first place in the division.

SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) — Jaromir Jagr (YAH'-oh-meer YAH'-gur) can move into second-place on the NHL all-time scoring list with a point against Boston tonight. That would put the 44-year old ahead of Mark Messier (MEH'-see-yay) and still leave him 969 points behind all-time leader Wayne Gretzky.
