Robinson's 27 lead Monmouth to 96-90 win over Princeton

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP) — Justin Robinson scored 23 of his 27 points in the second half and had seven assists, Je'lon Hornbeak had his first double-double and Monmouth held off Princeton 96-90 for its school record ninth-straight win on Tuesday night.

Hornbeak had 25 points and 10 rebounds and Austin Tilgham added a career-high 18 off the bench, 12 in the second when the Hawks (10-2) shot 58 percent (19 of 33). Monmouth, off to its best start in history, hit 7 of 11 3-pointers after the break with Hornbeak and Robinson going a combined 7 for 10.

Princeton (4-6) opened a 13-point lead before Monmouth charged back to take a 39-38 halftime lead. The Tigers led by eight before Monmouth reeled off 16 straight, 10 by Robinson and six from Hornbeak as they combined for four 3s for a 76-68 lead with 4:38 to play.

Robinson scored six points and Tilgham had four in the last 1:09 to hold off the Tigers.

Steven Cook had 30 points on 12-of-18 shooting and Devin Cannady added a career-high 26 with eight rebounds for Princeton.
