PROVO, Utah (AP) -- Brigham Young sophomore offensive lineman Tom Sorensen will redshirt the season after suffering a season-ending anterior cruciate ligament injury last week.

Sorensen, 6-foot-5, 315 pound transfer, was in contention for the starting center position.

He started eight games at center for Vanderbilt and was a unanimous All-SEC freshman-team selection.

After returning from a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the spring, Sorensen transferred to BYU.

Sorensen played for Brighton High before going to Vanderbilt. ------ Information from: The Salt Lake Tribune, http://www.sltrib.com
