SALT LAKE CITY — It’s December and Christmas is not too far away. Time for snow, shopping for gifts, hot chocolate and — most importantly — spending time with loved ones.

One thing that gets many in the Christmas spirit is listening to holiday music. A bit of Christmas music at home or in the car can help lift holiday spirits.

For the next few weeks, we’re hosting a tournament to determine which is Utah’s favorite Christmas song. We’re starting the field with 32 songs. You have until Tuesday evening to narrow the field down to 16.

Some of the songs on the list are duplicate, but different versions. For this poll, we did not include any instrumental versions of songs.

Click on each link to hear the song.

And the nominees are, in no particular order:

Mariah Carey — “All I Want For Christmas Is You

Bruce Springsteen — “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town

Alvin & the Chipmunks — “The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don’t Be Late)

Bobby Helms — “Jingle Bell Rock

Run DMC — “Christmas in Hollis

The Jackson 5 — “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus

Paul McCartney — “Wonderful Christmastime

Vince Guaraldi Trio — “Christmastime Is Here" (From “A Charlie Brown Christmas”)"

Trans-Siberian Orchestra — “Christmas Canon

Bing Crosby and David Bowie — “Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy

Brenda Lee — “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree

Eartha Kitt — “Santa Baby

Elvis Presley — “Blue Christmas

The Beach Boys — “Little Saint Nick

Nat King Cole — “The Christmas Song

Julie Andrews — “Joy to the World

Gene Autry — “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

Bing Crosby — “White Christmas

Wham! — “Last Christmas

Jose Feliciano — “Feliz Navidad

Burl Ives — “A Holly Jolly Christmas

Johnny Mathis — “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

NewSong — “The Christmas Shoes

Band Aid — “Do They Know It’s Christmas?

Gene Autry — “Frosty The Snowman

Elmo & Patsy — “Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer

Bing Crosby — “Silver Bells

Frank Sinatra — “Have Yourself A Merry Christmas

Josh Groban — “O Holy Night

Andy Williams — “It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

Sinead O’Connor — “Silent Night

Gene Autry — “Here Comes Santa Claus

Remember, this is completely subjective and fun. We think all of these songs are great. How you come to decide upon the better of the two songs paired against another is entirely up to you. You be the judge.

If you want others to vote, share the poll and help your favorite Christmas song win.

Enjoy and remember to look for the second-round voting next week.
