DAVIS COUNTY — A Utah Highway Patrol trooper used his patrol car to forcibly stop a wrong-way driver, UHP said.

At around 2 a.m. Sunday, police received a call of a wrong-way vehicle traveling southbound on northbound I-15 near mile marker 329. UHP said a trooper was south of the location and was able to alert northbound traffic by performing a slowdown.

The trooper spotted the vehicle continuing to travel the wrong way. UHP said the trooper slowed his vehicle, and as the wrong-way driver approached, the trooper was able to hit the vehicle on the driver side rear panel. The wrong-way vehicle spun around and became disabled.

The driver, whose name was not immediately released, was arrested in connection with driving under the influence. UHP said neither the trooper nor the wrong-way driver was injured in the incident.
