ST. GEORGE — An individual was arrested in connection with driving under the influence after driving through a lane closure, Utah Highway Patrol said.
At around 11 p.m. Saturday, a crash occurred on northbound I-15 near mile marker 13. UHP blocked the left lane of the freeway with emergency and flashing emergency lights to warn motorists of the crash.
While one individual was being arrested in connection with driving under the influence, a grey Ford Focus drove through the lane closure, paying no attention to the flares or flashing lights, and struck the back of a trooper’s patrol car, UHP said.
The trooper whose car was struck was not in the vehicle when it was hit, and officials said there were no injuries.
The driver of the Ford Focus, whose name was not immediately released, was arrested in connection with DUI. UHP said no one was injured in the initial car crash.
