Auburn, Clemson headline 2017 Charleston Classic field

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Auburn and Clemson will headline the field in the 2017 Charleston Classic.

Auburn of the Southeastern Conference and Clemson of the Atlantic Coast Conference are the featured teams for next season's eight-team tournament. Event organizers announced the field for next year's tourney on Thursday.

Along with Auburn and Clemson, other 2017 participants are Dayton, Hofstra, Indiana State, Old Dominion, Ohio and Temple.

This year's tournament begins Thursday with No. 3 Villanova opening play against Western Michigan.

The event the College of Charleston's TD Arena continues Friday with two semifinal and two consolation games. It concludes on Sunday with a seventh-place, fifth-place, third-place and champion games.
