LOGAN — An attorney for a Logan woman says she is now mentally fit to stand trial in the death of her 2-year-old son.
The Herald Journal reports that Heidi Marie Rutchey, 45, was charged with murder in October 2013 after the body of her son Eli was found on the bathroom floor of her home.
She was admitted to Utah State Hospital after psychiatric evaluations found her to be incompetent and unable to participate in her own defense.
Rutchey appeared in court on Monday with her attorney, Dave Perry, who said she has improved but asked that she be allowed to await trial at the state hospital.
A Nov. 28 hearing is scheduled before Judge Thomas Willmore.
