SALT LAKE CITY — Three more fun stories from around the world of sports in today's From Left Field!
1. Suns dancer fails on backflip
Imagine you're a hype man for an NBA team. You're just trying to show the crowd a good time by doing a backflip, impressing them with your insane agility and keeping the energy high through a timeout. And then the floor comes much, much faster than you thought it would.
Oh no, poor Suns dancer. While he seems okay, he definitely has to go somewhere for a little more practice.
2. Browns banner goes bad
Look, I like the hustle, Browns fans. Bringing a big ol' banner to a game for your bad team, that shows real commitment! Unfortunately, your arrangement of the banner does not show smarts.
Fear the gpodawund.
3. NFL gets free hug, seems upset
Earl Thomas, safety for the Seattle Seahawks, scored a touchdown in this Sunday's game. Touchdowns for defensive players are pretty rare, and he was so excited he hugged the referee.
Then, the ref immediately pulled his flag out and gave a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. I'm of two minds on this: obviously, refs being given respect and space by players is important. On the other hand, isn't a person who penalizes hugs the kind of person who needs a hug most?
Ah well. Sunday, Thomas learned a lesson about making sure your hugs are consensual.
