Dubai (dpa) - Two young Saudi women, best friends who had shared most of their lives together, persuaded the husband of one of them to marry the other, the Saudi newspaper Arab News reported Saturday.
The paper said that since childhood they had travelled together, shared each other's secrets and at least once a week for as long as they could remember they had spent the night at each other's homes.
"So when one of them got married, it threw a chink in their chain, until they agreed that they should both be married to the same man," said the paper.
To the delight of the best friends, said the paper, the husband agreed to marry both of them.
Saudi Arabia applies the Islamic law which permits men to be married at the same time to up to four women.
