CHICAGO — Alex and I have a lot of great qualities, but when it comes to “get-going” on the annual General RV road trip, we struggle.

The plan was to leave at 9:00 a.m.

Quick aside: KSL's Tim Johnson is coming along with us; he’s awesome. He does some pretty cool stuff at ksldads.com, and he’s the creative genius behind Alex and my work with Cougar Tracks.

He also loves cameras and TV toys. He brought his drone and you’ll see some pretty incredible video on this road trip—especially drone shots of fireworks in the sky (see the video above).

Anyway, long story longer, we’re both night owls and we start late. It’s what we do. Tim is so easy-going and cool, he’s three heartbeats-per-minute away from ending the bloodflow through the heart.

We left at noon, stopped in Salt Lake City for lunch, and then made our way east on I-80. We were making good time until we saw the exit to Pyrocity — otherwise known as Evanston, Wyoming.

You know you’re about to enter a special fireworks store when it’s built of brick and mortar — probably fire marshall-mandated.

Alex was determined to find BYU-themed fireworks. I thought he was crazy, but I’ll be darned if he didn’t find the perfect fireworks.

Here's what we found:

Victory Sword: Symbolic of what BYU needs to do on Saturday.

Victory Celebration: Self explanatory.

Hit Team: the ground made up of linebackers and pass rushers Butch Pau’u, Harvey Langi, Fred Warner and company.

Blue on Blue: Team Unity.

Sucker Punch: sorry, Kai Nacua and Ului Lapuaho, but ... well, you know why.

Wild Beast: Jamaal Williams and his 703 yards and 8 touchdowns.

Blindsided: A reminder of what the offensive line doesn’t want to have happen to Taysom Hill.

Breaking Out: Hill’s turn to one up his co-captain Williams’ monster game v. Toledo

Friggin’ Awesome: The predicted result of Taysom’s game on Saturday.

What do you think of our haul? Will BYU be lighting off fireworks Saturday against Michigan State?
