(KSL News) -- The hunt is on for mosquitoes along the Wasatch Front.
Specialized planes will be dropping mosquito spray tonight and tomorrow.
Last week, two planes performed a similar technique throughout Salt Lake County. The spraying is scheduled for 9 PM to midnight both nights.
Mosquito Spraying
- 2000 feet of either side of Jordan River corridor from 2100 South to 15500 South (Salt Lake County/Utah County border)
- 9,500 acres of marsh north of Magna
- 28,000 acres of marsh on the west and north of the Salt Lake International Airport
The spray zone includes two thousand feet on either side of the Jordan River corridor from 2100 South to the border between Salt Lake and Utah County. They will also be spraying a marsh area north of Magna and 28,000 acres near the airport.
While spray is toxic to mosquitoes, the risk to humans is extremely low. Dr. Sam Dickson, Salt Lake City Mosquito Abatement: "The spray itself is going to come out at about one ounce per acre. The drinkers in the state would know that a one ounce shot glass is pretty small." But still, some precautions to those in the spray zone, especially if you're sensitive to chemicals. While the plane is spraying, stay indoors, close windows and turn off window air conditioners.
