GUNNISON — An elderly man died after his car rolled just off of U.S. 89 in a crash last week, according to police.
John Ludvigson, 88, of Sterling, Sanpete County, died when his Chevy Cruze veered to the right on westbound U.S. 89 near Gunnison on Sept. 20, the Utah Highway Patrol reported Monday.
The drifting vehicle "went over a dirt crossroad, launching the car into the air before landing and rolling once," the agency said in a statement.
It's possible Ludvigson may have suffered a medical episode that caused the wreck, investigators said. His body was taken to the Utah State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
Ludvigson was the only person in the Cruze at the time of the crash, the UHP said.
