DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — Duke says safety and kick returner DeVon Edwards is out for the season with torn knee ligaments.

Coach David Cutcliffe said Sunday that Edwards tore both the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his left knee during Saturday's 38-35 upset at Notre Dame.

Edwards was injured on the Fighting Irish's first kickoff of the day and was on crutches at the end of the game. The redshirt senior has six career kick returns for touchdowns, one shy of the Atlantic Coast Conference and NCAA records.
