Charleston Southern handles Monmouth 35-7 behind Holloway

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP) — Mike Holloway rushed for 151 yards — including a 75-yarder for a score — which helped ignite Charleston Southern in a 35-7 win over Monmouth on Saturday.

Holloway's touchdown run came on the first play of the second half which gave the Buccaneers a 14-0 lead. Monmouth got back in it on the ensuing possession, putting together an 11-play, 77-yard drive that ended with Cody Williams' 31-yard touchdown pass to Reggie White Jr. Williams completed 15 of 31 passes for 172 yards.

Charleston Southern (2-2, 1-0 Big South) countered with a seven-play, 42-yard drive capped by Darius Hammond's 7-yard touchdown run with 6:57 to play in the third.

The Buccaneers dominated the line of scrimmage outrushing Monmouth (2-2, 0-1) 322 to 57, despite trailing the Hawks by nearly six minutes in time of possession.

Shane Bucenell threw for 98 yards and had nine carries for 73 yards for the Buccaneers.
