This is Fred ball for Zions bank, speaking on business.

What a glorious evening!! I attended the grand opening celebration a couple of weeks ago of the new PANINI restaurant in the Wells Fargo Building in downtown Salt Lake City.

The space on the second floor of the beautiful facility on Third South and Main Street is very inviting. As you enter Panini, the hosts greet you at the podium. You can be led directly to your table or enjoy hors d'oeuvres and beverages in a lounge area. Outdoor seating overlooks Main Street or the Wasatch Mountains and Gallivan Center.

The executive chef Brandon Howard has been involved in the restaurant scene in Salt Lake City and in Utah for many years. He was the chef at the Market Street Grill and Oyster Bar; he directed food services for Park City Mountain Resort; and was most recently the executive chef at the Point Restaurant at the Huntsman Cancer Institute.

Panini's menu is eclectic, with wood fired pizzas, an array of pasta dishes, a variety of seafood selections, prime rib, steaks, lamb chops and other Continental/Italian fare. The children's menu has macaroni and cheese, spaghetti and other tempting selections.

My wife Joyce and I started with an appetizer of calamari. We then enjoyed Caesar salad and tomato-basil bisque. Our entrees included lamb and a delightful dish of fresh ravioli stuffed with portabello mushrooms and spring squash. All of the dishes were hot, delicious, and beautifully prepared and presented.

I was told by Brandon that the restaurant would offer valet parking, take out, special catered arrangements, and private rooms for special gatherings and meetings. A "café" section will offer special menu items for those wanting a more relaxed, casual atmosphere.

The building will soon house KUTV Channel 2, on the street level of the facility. This new tenant and the Panini Restaurant will surely add a great deal of excitement and exposure to the building and a great deal of excitement to downtown Salt Lake City.

For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
