THIS IS MICHAEL DE GROOTE FROM THE SALT LAKE CHAMBER, WITH YOUR METRO BUSINESS REPORT
Several Salt Lake businesses report personnel news. Karmeen Kulkarni, a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator at St. Mark’s Hospital, has been appointed to serve as the national Vice President of Health Care & Education for the American Diabetes Association. She is the first Utahn to hold this volunteer position. Marty Harger has been named Salt Lake City Regional Sales Manager for the Salt Lake Offices of Moore Wallace, the world’s third largest printing company. The Utah Microenterprise Loan Fund added four members to its Board of Directors: Jack Brown of American Investment Bank, Elizabeth Nielson of Nielson and Associates, Jim Welch of West Valley City, and Don Youngberg of Bank One Utah.
The Salt Lake Chamber’s Board of Governors joined with the Alliance For Unity last week in calling for businesses to sponsor a Food Drive this summer for the Utah Food Bank. The need for emergency food in Utah has increased 43 percent this past year. The summer months are historically low donation months. Conducting a food drive is an easy way to host a volunteer project at your business. For more information call the Utah Food Bank at 908-8660.
This month’s Business After Hours is at General Communications, a communications systems integration company located in Murray. So get your monthly networking fix on July 17th at 5:00 p.m. To register call the Chamber at 328-5077, or see us on the web at saltlakechamber.org.
