(KSL News) Police in Midvale arrested a man following a standoff at his home Saturday night.

Officers say the man and his wife got into an argument at a bar shortly before 10 p.m. They went home, and police say the man threatened his wife with a semiautomatic handgun and warned her not to leave. Nevertheless, she managed to leave the house, drive away and call police.

Officers arrived on the scene near 290 West and 8500 South, where the man refused to come out of the house. They say he had several weapons inside the home. Officers called in SWAT and tried to negotiate with the man. Eventually they threw a flash-bang device at the home. Those devices give off a loud noise and bright light in order to temporarily disorient the suspect.

Around midnight the man walked onto his front porch and surrendered peacefully. He's identified as 32-year-old Scott Bergmann. Officers say he could face charges of aggravated assault and attempted kidnapping.
