CLEARFIELD — A fire broke out inside a business Friday afternoon, causing about $80,000 in damage.
The fire ignited around 2:30 p.m. at Fusion Lumber near 1700 South and 3rd Street, according to the North Davis Fire District.
The fire started when workers were heating a semitrailer and the device they were using ignited some wood pallets inside the vehicle, North Davis Fire Chief Mark Becraft said.
Fire spokesman Mark Sessions said a man inside the building was evacuated. He was not injured.
The semitrailer, which was backed into the dock of the building, was involved in smoke and flames when police and firefighters arrived, according to Sessions. Some of the roof of the building also caught fire, but crews were able to prevent it from spreading to its interior, he said.
The Syracuse, Sunset, Clinton and Layton fire departments also assisted with the fire.
