SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A teenager shot with a pellet-type gun after a homecoming pep rally at a suburban Salt Lake City high school has been released from the hospital after getting stitches.
Granite School District spokesman Steve Powell said Friday the 14-year-old boy suffered a minor head injury. He is a freshman at Kearns High School, which is a few miles southwest of Salt Lake City.
Powell says officials don't know who shot him or why it happened. The person likely used a pellet gun or airsoft gun.
Powell says the incident happened Thursday at 9 p.m. as students were leaving the building after a homecoming pep rally. Other students alerted school administrators, who called police.
