TOOELE — A 20-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man sustained serious injuries Saturday after they crashed into a tree in Middle Canyon.
Tooele County Sgt. Dave Garcia said the man and women, both from Salt Lake City, were driving a Toyota convertible westbound through the canyon between Herriman and Tooele when they missed a turn, swerved off the road, and hit a tree.
They were both ejected from the car upon impact, Garcia said. Police don't know whether they were wearing seatbelts.
The sergeant said they where driving at 70 mph, double the speed limit, when the crash occurred.
The identities of the two were not released. Both were flown to local hospitals in serious condition, Garcia said.
