The pumps won't be as busy this weekend. Paying more for gas means fewer vacationers this weekend.
AAA spokesperson Rolayne Fairclough says it's all about balancing tighter budgets.
"When your discretionary income is tightened, you don't feel (like) you used to feel. And those are the kinds of things that you kind of cut out," she said.
She says many people already avoid traveling on Labor Day because school already is in session. But the number of Utahns driving more than 50 miles this weekend is expected to drop 2 percent from last year.
