UNDATED (AP) — As a new day of baseball gets going, the Blue Jays, Red Sox and Orioles continue their quest for supremacy of the American League East. Toronto begins play with a one-game lead over Boston, with Baltimore two games back. This afternoon the Blue Jays are hosting the Twins while the Orioles are visiting the Yankees.

BOSTON (AP) — Kansas City and Boston are each involved in tight races to get into the postseason. The Royals are 6 ½ games back of Cleveland in the American League Central but just three games out of an AL Wild Card berth. The Red Sox are a game back of the Jays in the AL East and tonight they are playing host once again to the Royals.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — IndyCar racing is taking place tonight at Texas Motor Speedway. This is the resumption of a race that was begun back in June but was rained out. Will Power enters the race with wins in three of the last five races.

SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS, Belgium (AP) — Nico (NEE'-koh) Rosberg will start tomorrow's Formula One Grand Prix race from the pole. He clinched the top spot earlier today for the Belgian race, with 18-year-old Dutchman Max Verstappen second. World championship points leader Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes will start the race from the back of the grid because of penalties assessed against his car and team earlier in the week.

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (AP) — The third round of The Barclays, the first stop on the FedEx playoff trail, is under way in Farmingdale, New York. The mid-way leader was Patrick Reed at 8-under, with Emiliano Grillo (GREE'-yoh) and Rickie Fowler two shots off the lead.
