FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — New York Jets rookie linebacker Jordan Jenkins left practice with a calf injury, the severity of which was not immediately known.

Jenkins, a third-round draft pick out of Georgia, is considered a front-runner to open the season as a starter at outside linebacker.

He came off the field midway through practice Monday and remained on the sideline the rest of the session. Coach Todd Bowles said he would know more later in the day after talking to the trainers.

"They said it was somewhat swollen," Bowles said.

One of the Jets' biggest competitions in camp is for the vacant outside linebacker spots with Calvin Pace not re-signed and Lorenzo Mauldin, a third-rounder last year, adjusting to a full-time role. Mike Catapano, Freddie Bishop, Trevor Reilly and Josh Martin are also in the mix.

Tight end Jace Amaro and wide receiver Kenbrell Thompkins sat out practice Monday with groin injuries.

"I hope they're not (serious)," Bowles said. "We'll see how they feel tomorrow."

Running back Khiry Robinson (leg) participated in team drills for the first time in training camp. He broke his right leg during a game last season while with New Orleans, and was signed by New York this offseason.

"He's quick," Bowles said. "His first time in team drills. He's going to have to go through the dead-leg period and get his legs back under him. Everybody else is running a little bit longer, so it's still a little process with him."

Fellow running back Matt Forte was a full participant again as he works his way back from a hamstring injury suffered while running on his own before training camp. He's uncertain to play Saturday night against the Giants.

"He's been fresh and he's been healthy," Bowles said. "You would like to get him banged around a little bit, so he can get used to his pads a little more. If he continues to be healthy, we will try to get him some reps on Saturday if we can."

Starting inside linebacker Erin Henderson participated in individual drills after suffering a stinger against Washington last Friday night. Wide receiver Quincy Enunwa, who suffered a concussion in the game, did not practice. He is in the NFL's concussion protocol, but Bowles said he was doing "better."

NOTES: The Jets, along with STOMP Out Bullying, held their first anti-bullying symposium that included more than 150 educators from the tri-state area at the team's facility. WR Eric Decker, the team's ambassador for its anti-bullying efforts, also spoke to the crowd. The event was hosted by Otis Livingston, CBS 2's sports anchor, and included panel discussions. Former Jets running back-wide receiver Bruce Harper, president of Heroes and Cool Kids, was among the panel leaders. ... CB Dee Milliner and rookie LB Darron Lee each had two interceptions during practice.
