SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Curtis Granderson has ended Giants pitcher Jeff Samardzija's no-hit bid with a double to lead off the seventh inning.

Yoenis Cespedes homered in the next at-bat, giving the Mets a 2-0 lead.

Samardzija had retired 18 of 19 batters. The only Met to reach was pitcher Noah Syndergaard, who walked with two outs in the third after narrowly missing a home run.

Jose Reyes nearly had an infield single with two outs in the sixth, but second baseman Joe Panik charged the ball and flipped it to first base with his glove for the out.

Samardzija has never pitched a no-hitter and is winless in three career starts against the Mets. The right-hander threw a one-hitter against the Detroit Tigers on Sept. 21, 2015 while with the Chicago White Sox.
