SOUTH WILLAMSPORT, Pa. (AP) — Kenny Rix hit a three-run home run to lead Warwick, Rhode Island to an 8-0 victory over Bend, Oregon in an elimination game on Saturday in the Little League World Series.
Colin Lemieux gave up only three hits and had three strikeouts in four innings for Rhode Island, which moves on to play the loser of Sunday's Johnston, Iowa-Bowling Green, Kentucky game in another elimination matchup on Monday. Rix pitched 1 2/3 innings of relief, allowing two hits with a strikeout.
DJ Sollitto singled and scored, and Cam Nadeau scored off a wild pitch to give Rhode Island a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Rix's homer capped a four-run fourth inning to make it 6-0. Domenic Brazeau had three hits and Chase Pariseau added two doubles for Rhode Island.
Julian Mora had two hits to lead Oregon, which plays in a Monday consolation game.
