PHILOMATH, Ore. (AP) — Philomath High School has suspended its football activities and canceled its first game as law enforcement officials look into allegations of misconduct by the football team.
The Corvallis Gazette-Times reports (https://is.gd/pA36lm ) that Oregon State Police are investigating alleged misconduct that took place during the team's July trip to Camp Rilea in Clatsop County. Neither school officials nor police have released details of the allegations.
The Philomath team was set to begin practice on Aug. 15 before opening the season on Sept. 2 against Junction City, but Superintendent Melissa Goff says it would be imprudent to have players who hadn't had a chance to practice play in game conditions.
