The former mayor of Santa Rosa, California, launched a Gang Prevention Task Force to clean up a growing problem. Its mission combines enforcement, prevention and intervention, and aims to cut gang violence in half in another three years.

Two high-profile murders in Salt Lake have drawn attention to our cities' problem with gangs. After those crimes, we traveled to Santa Rosa to look at their efforts. Members of the Gang Prevention Task Force there said the key to success is the involvement of the mayor, who needs to champion the cause.
