SEATTLE, Aug 8, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Seattle-based coffee giant Starbucks has announced its selection of Mitch Albom's newest novel, "For One More Day," to kick off its new book sale program.
Starbucks, which had previously announced its intention to sell books and movies alongside the music it already displays in its stores, said the book will be sold at Starbucks locations from the first week in October through the second week of November, The New York Times reported Tuesday.
The company said it would also host readings from the book by Albom and a scheduled discussion day Oct. 26 at specified locations in 25 cities.
"It's so difficult to reach beyond the traditional audience for books," said Robert Miller, president of Hyperion, the company publishing "For One More Day." "There are so many millions of people that go through a Starbucks every day, and if some of those people become aware of a new book because of this program then it's a good thing for all of us."
One dollar from every sale of the book at Starbucks will be donated to Jumpstart, a non-profit literacy program targeted at preschoolers.
