WEST JORDAN — A crash critically injured a man and shut down Redwood Road traffic in both directions Thursday afternoon, police said.
The crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. when a northbound Honda Civic broadsided a Nissan Sentra that was turning onto Redwood Road from 9180 South, said West Jordan Police Sgt. Scott List.
The driver of the Sentra, a 58-year-old man, was extricated from his car in critical condition and taken by ambulance to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray.
The 18-year-old West Jordan man driving the Civic suffered minor injuries, including seat belt burns.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash. Alcohol and drugs aren't believed to be involved, police said.
Both northbound and southbound traffic were shut down between 9000 South and 9400 South. The road reopened around 6:15 p.m., according to West Jordan police.
