LOCKHART, Texas (AP) — Authorities say there do not appear to be any survivors after a hot air balloon carrying at least 16 people caught fire and crashed in Central Texas this morning. But officials have not confirmed the exact number of deaths. The balloon went down in a pasture near Lockhart. A row of massive high-capacity electrical transmission lines cuts through the farmland. The site of the crash appears to be right below the overhead lines.

BIG SUR, Calif. (AP) — A massive wildfire is burning near California's dramatic Big Sur coast. More than 5,000 firefighters are battling the week-old blaze that now covers 52 square miles. It has destroyed 57 homes and is threatening 2,000 more. The fire a few miles north of Big Sur has also killed a bulldozer operator working the fire line.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) —Donald Trump is safe and sound after being rescued from an elevator that was stuck between the first and second floors of a resort in Colorado Springs. Firefighters were called in early Friday afternoon to rescue about 10 people, including Trump, who were trapped inside the elevator cab. Passengers used a ladder provided by firefighters to climb out the top elevator hatch. No injuries were reported.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump says he doesn't like going up against NFL games when he debates Democratic rival Hillary Clinton this fall. Trump also says that the football league has complained to him about the debate schedule in a letter. An NFL spokesman says the league didn't send a letter to Trump as he claims. Two of the three debates scheduled in September and October will be televised during NFL games.

KRAKOW, Poland (AP) — Organizers of World Youth Day say that 1.6 million people attended an event with Pope Francis in a huge meadow in a village outside of Krakow, Poland, on Saturday evening. Pope Francis called on the young Catholic pilgrims to not be "couch potatoes" but to take risks as they seek to build a better world.
