Appearing by video from New York, Clinton told the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia that they've "just put the biggest crack in that glass ceiling yet."

BIG SUR, Calif. (AP) — With California Gov. Jerry Brown at the Democratic convention, the state's acting governor has declared a state of emergency in response to two major wildfires. The fire in Monterey County near Big Sur has burned 20 homes. The blaze in Los Angeles County has destroyed 18 homes and killed one person.
RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, Calif. (AP) — Hundreds of people have reached out to help a 4-year-old Southern California boy who had his prosthetic leg stolen. The artificial limb was taken while Liam Brenes was visiting the beach for the first time. A GoFundMe account has raised more than $16,000 to pay for a new leg.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Officials say two Good Samaritan vessels have rescued 46 people who abandoned a fishing boat that was taking on water in Alaska's Aleutian Islands. The Coast Guard says there were no reports of any injuries as the crew members were transferred from life rafts to the vessels in a fairly calm Bering Sea.
