WEST JORDAN — A Colorado man who recently moved to Utah was found shot to death Wednesday in the yard of a West Jordan home.
Police have launched a homicide investigation into the death.
About 9:45 a.m., a utility worker arrived at 6213 S. Cosmo Dr. (5295 West) and spotted the body of 29-year-old Steven Conlon, said West Jordan Police Lt. Drew Sanders.
Conlon's body was in an area with trees and shrubs and was not easily seen from the sidewalk or the road. Conlon had suffered "at least" two gunshot wounds, Sanders said, without going into detail about where he was shot.
Conlon did not live at that residence, according to Sanders. He was originally from Colorado but had moved to Utah about two weeks ago.
Sanders didn't say how long Conlon appeared to be deceased before his body was located. He declined to say whether police had identified any suspects in the case.
No one was believed to be home at the time the body was found. A woman who lives at the home was contacted by a friend after police arrived and saw officers in her yard. The woman went back to her house a short time later.
In 2011, West Jordan police conducted a drug bust at the same house, according to court documents. Methamphetamine, marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms were seized and the homeowner was charged and later convicted of drug distribution, court records state. It was not immediately known Wednesday whether the same person still lived at the house.
