THIS IS LARRY MANKIN FROM THE SALT LAKE CHAMBER WITH YOUR METRO BUSINESS REPORT

According to Creighton University’s Mountain States Index, the Mountain States economy dipped in November with significant downturns in durable and non-durable goods manufacturing and with construction activity drifting downward as well.

The Downtown Alliance has published an Operations Manual for Downtown Businesses for use during the 2002 Olympic Winter Games. You can download it at www.downtownslc.org.

Salt Lake Community College has signed a $26.5 million dollar partnership with CollegisEduprise for administrative systems management, infrastructure support, and instructional development services.

Intermountain Health Care has provided a $30,000 grant to Wasatch Homeless Health Care’s Fourth Street Clinic to provide pharmacy services at no cost to those unable to pay.

Here’s an Olympic business fact: The Chamber’s Century Club is a 10,000 square foot hospitality venue being built for the Games. Broadcast International, One of the Club’s major partners, is providing all the cabling and communications for the Club’s Internet Café and live feeds of the Games.

If you have fewer than 25 employees you know the challenge of running a small business. The Chamber’s Small Business Roundtable is a way to get together with other business owners and learn how to meet the challenges small business owners face. The next roundtable is January 8th, at 7:30a.m.at the Chamber. Howard Van Boerum of Van Boerum & Frank Associates, Inc., will facilitate the meeting.
