LONDON (AP) — France midfielder N'Golo Kante has left Premier League champion Leicester to join Chelsea for a reported fee of 30 million pounds ($40 million).
Chelsea announced the signing of Kante on a five-year deal on Saturday. He is the second offseason arrival under new coach Antonio Conte, following Belgium striker Michy Batshuayi.
The 25-year-old Kante was one of the key players in Leicester's improbable title triumph last season.
Kante says "the opportunity to work with Antonio Conte, a brilliant coach, and some of the best players in the world was simply too good to turn down."
Chelsea didn't qualify to play in either the Champions League or the Europa League next season.
