This is Fred Ball, Zions Bank, Speaking on Business.

About 18 months ago, I told of a new restaurant that was about to open at 33rd South and 23rd East. Greg Neville had recently moved back to Salt Lake City after a very successful career as a chef and restaurateur in southern California.

Well, Lugano's did open in the summer of 2000 and it has been fun and interesting to watch the beginning of this neighborhood eatery and see how quick and exciting was the acceptance of Lugano Restaurant.

I recently visited with Greg and inquired about his feelings regarding his venture. I didn't have to ask if the restaurant was successful. It seemed it was an overnight success. I live in the neighborhood and every time I drive buy I see the parking lot full and it some cases, patrons waiting outside on the patio for a table. He did say it was very gratifying to establish a loyal, repeat clientele and indeed, he has met his projections.

One problem that Lugano experienced very early was that he could not satisfy the need for adequate private party functions. The current dining room is in two sections and it was possible to have a larger party on one side but it wasn't ideal because of lack of size and some lack of privacy.

Greg has now solved that problem. He has purchase a beautiful facility adjacent to his property and has remodeled and completed a separate dining area for private dinners and meeting functions. The Loggia is very attractive and appears like an Italian hunting lodge. It will accommodate seating for about 54 people and the room is very conducive for business meetings.

Lugano Restaurant is open seven days a week at 5 p.m. but Greg told me he has hosted many luncheon events. He could provide luncheon arrangements in the private dining area if desired. I think the area would be ideal for special occasion family or friends dining, wedding rehearsal dinners, birthday celebrations, business gatherings or any occasion when superb food in a beautiful private area is desired.

Lugano Restaurant is named for a resort town in Switzerland and borders the beautiful Lake District in Northern Italy.

I'm confident the new Loggia at Lugano will fit a real niche with Greg's customers.
