This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

For a state located in the nation’s largest desert, Utah actually has a lot to offer in the way of water recreation. I’ve counted at least 57 different lakes and reservoirs statewide, from the blue waters of Bear Lake in Northern Utah to the many canyons of Lake Powell. It seems no matter where you are in the state, you’re just minutes to an hour away from some pretty spectacular sites.

But having fun once you get there is key, and that’s where Utah’s boating retailers have done well. Thanks to a number of dealerships, Utah boaters can buy everything from small pontoon units for fishing ponds to cruisers as big as a home. And there are plenty of aquatic toys to enhance the fun.

Bevan’s Marine, located in West Valley, is one of the oldest marine dealerships in the state. It was more than 25 years ago that Errol and Del Ray Bevan saw the opportunity to capitalize on Utah’s water recreation by selling and servicing high quality boats and accessories. Today, there are more Utah boaters and more recreational sites than there have ever been, and that’s been good for Bevan’s.

The company offers both new and used boats. Of the new boats, Bevan’s sells the Maxum and Boston Whaler lines. The two brands are different from one another. Maxum builds light-weight models and large cruisers designed for water sports such as skiing and kneeboarding. Boston Whaler boasts a boat that’s unsinkable and famous for its steering set in a center console. Both models can be used for fishing, but the Whalers have sterns designed for hauling big catches.

In addition to its boats, Bevan’s Marine, which is located on five acres, features a large service bay with the ability to service a variety of marine engines. Bevan’s also has a glass shop for fiberglass and gel coat repair. And it offers a complete parts department, including a pro shop that sells water skis, knee boards, wake boards, ski vests, ropes, gloves and wet suits.

Plus, for boaters who seem to live on their boats in the summer, but can’t do much in the winter, Bevan’s offers covered storage that will fit any size of boat. From great products to excellent service, Bevan’s Marine gives us one more reason to get on the water.
