JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) — The Teton County coroner has determined that a 16-year-old whose body was found near a popular hiking trail died of natural causes from a heart condition.
The Jackson Hole News and Guide reports (http://bit.ly/1rsVoUr ) that Kayden Quinn Tapia's body was found by passers-by on the Snake River dike Tuesday morning.
Coroner Brent Blue says the Jackson Hole High School student died of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a genetic disease of the heart muscle.
There were no apparent signs of trauma on the victim, but toxicology results and other tests are still pending.
Authorities say the death remains under investigation.
