MURRAY, Utah (AP) — Police say an off-duty officer shot a man wanted in connection with a bar shooting in a Salt Lake City suburb.
Unified Police Lt. Lex Bell says a man was shot in the leg at a Murray bar early Wednesday and a West Jordan police officer on his way home recognized the car from the shooting report.
The officer followed the car until it pulled into a driveway, where Bell says the two men had a confrontation and the officer shot the suspect.
Bell says the wounded man was taken to the hospital in serious to critical condition.
Unified Police will investigate the bar shooting. Bell says West Jordan police will bring in an outside agency to review the officer-involved shooting.
Police have not named the people involved.
