HOUMA, La. (AP) — Students who earn associate's degrees in nursing from Fletcher Technical Community College can easily transfer into bachelor programs in nursing through new agreements with Nicholls State University and Northwestern State University.

Articulation is mandatory for all nursing education programs in Louisiana, and registered nurse programs must be accredited by a national nursing accreditation agency.

In a phone interview, Becky Lyons, department head of Nicholls' Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, tells The Courier (http://bit.ly/1WNwrB3) the degree is offered online in eight-week sessions and generally takes a year to complete. Students are also guaranteed to get into courses they need.
