SALT LAKE CITY — The King’s Singers, a Grammy Award-winning, six-man a cappella vocal group from England, will perform with The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square at the annual Pioneer Day concert, according to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
There will be two performances of “Music for a Summer Evening.” The concert will take place at 8 p.m. July 22 and 23 in the Conference Center at Temple Square, the LDS Church reported.
Mormon Tabernacle Choir music director Mack Wilberg and associate music director Ryan Murphy will conduct the music.
Those who wish to attend the concerts must obtain free tickets. They can get tickets on a first-come, first-served basis at lds.org/events, by calling 801-570-0080 or at the Conference Center ticket office. Attendees must be at least 8 years old, according to the LDS Church.
Those who cannot attend the concert in person can see it live on motab.org/pioneerday at 8 p.m. July 23. They can also see it live on the LDS Church satellite system and on BYUtv the same day and time.
“The King’s Singers are acclaimed worldwide for their virtuosity, energy and charm,” the LDS Church reported. “The group was honored in 2009 for its Signum Classics release ‘Simple Gifts’ and again in 2012 for its contribution to Eric Whitacre’s ‘Light and Gold’ album on Universal/Decca. “The King’s Singers are one of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s most frequent collaborators. They have appeared on the ‘Music and the Spoken Word’ broadcast. In fact, they will join the choir for the broadcast on Sunday, July 24, in the Conference Center at 9:30 a.m. The audience should be in their seats by 9:15 a.m. No tickets are required for that performance.”
The King’s Singers will sign CDs at Deseret Book in City Creek Center after the Friday concert, according to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
“Patrons are invited to stand by for last-minute seating each evening,” the LDS Church reported. “The standby line will form at the north gate on Temple Square at 6:30 p.m. for the evening performances.”
