PLAYING THE RIGHT ANTHEM — There are a lot of jobs in sports, and only a few of them involve on-field play.

There are team broadcasters and media; stadium officials and operations employees; and coaches, managers and medical professionals who give their time to help us enjoy the events we love.

Here are some of our favorite moments from sports this weekend, many of which don’t involve the athletes on the field.

Uruguay is now Chile, Copa America says

File this under “you had one job.”

Copa America officials at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, prepared to kick off the opening round Sunday with a match between Mexico and Uruguay. But apparently, someone forgot to tell the public address folks which countries were represented.

During the pre-match ceremonies, stadium officials played the national anthem of Chile instead of the Uruguayan national anthem, or “himno nacional” to kick off the tournament.

Needless to say, La Celeste were a bit confused.

Copa America released a statement apologizing for the incident, but not before plenty of people had their jokes, outrage and jabs on the Internet.

“This evening during the pre-match ceremony, due to human error, we inadvertently played the incorrect national anthem,” the statement read. “We sincerely apologize to the Uruguayan Federation, the Uruguay national team, the people of Uruguay and to the fans for this mistake.

“We will work with all parties involved to ensure such an error does not occur again.”

Uruguay went on to lose to El Tri 3-1, after giving up a sixth-minute own goal and being reduced to 10 men by a first-half red card.

Don’t worry, Uruguay fans; Copa America gave the loss to Chile.

Tulane broadcaster loses it over home run

In case you haven’t heard, Tulane eliminated Utah baseball during an NCAA Regional elimination game Sunday, ending the Utes’ best season since joining the Pac-12.

The day before, the Green Wave sent regional host Ole Miss packing with a 6-5 win. And play-by-play announcer Todd Grafagnini went crazy over Jake Rogers’ ninth-inning gamewinner.

Vin Scully announces Muhammad Ali’s death like only Vin Scully can

Broadcast legend Vin Scully — the most trusted man in baseball — was on the mic calling the Los Angeles Dodgers against Atlanta on Friday when news came across that boxing legend Muhammad Ali had passed away.

With his amazingly dulcet tones and a voice that has him on par with broadcasting legends like Walter Cronkite, Scully delivered the news to his readers.

Chills.

RIP to the World’s Greatest.
