NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Police Department says divers searching for the pilot of vintage World War II plane that crashed in the Hudson River have recovered a body. New Jersey state police had said the pilot was the only person on the plane and had been rescued, but retracted that a short time later. Firefighters say the plane had engine trouble before it went into the water this evening.
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Heavy thunderstorms that caused flooding in Central and Southeast Texas halted all flights coming into and leaving Houston's largest airport for nearly two hours. The ground stop at Bush Intercontinental Airport resulted in 53 diverted flights and 42 cancellations. Severe storms and possible flooding may affect parts of the state through the Memorial Day weekend.
SAN DIEGO (AP) — Authorities say around a dozen people were arrested outside Donald Trump's rally in San Diego. Police say most people obeyed an order to leave the area outside the rally this afternoon after some protesters and supporters of the Republican candidate became unruly. Shouting matches erupted and people began hurling trash at each other.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The jury in murder trial of actor Michael Jace in Los Angeles has gone home for the weekend. In closing arguments, a prosecutor urged the panel to convict Jace of first-degree murder in the shooting death of his wife, April. The defense acknowledges that Jace shot his wife, but called for convicting him on the lesser offense of voluntary manslaughter.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — A judge in Los Angeles has ordered Johnny Depp to stay away from estranged wife Amber Heard. She had accused the Oscar-nominated actor of repeatedly hitting her during a recent fight and leaving her face bruised. Heard has filed for divorce from Depp.
